So on the days that I’m not playing a fashion obsessed style and beauty blogger my life goes something like, full time course load, taking care of kids, giving the pooches a bath, cleaning the house, grocery shopping\u2026 you know\u2026real life. So though I would like to pretend that I\u2019m wearing the most fashion forward outfits and fabulous makeup with the perfect coif, the truth is most of the time I have no time<\/em>. <\/p>\n

This all really hit me when I looked at myself in the mirror as I was cleaning the bathroom and realized just how out of control my hair was\u2014not exactly curls and not exactly waves, but surely a mess. So what do I do? I tweet our very own Diane for tips on how to tame my mane. I\u2019ll share her suggestion plus a few more easy to do hair tips\/dos for those days when you are just too busy. <\/p>\n

Beach worthy waves is what I asked Diane for, and her expert advice is to use Bumble and Bumble\u2019s Surf Spray or Kiehl\u2019s Silk Groom Serum to help calm and define waves. Work the product through damp hair and let air dry or blow-dry with a diffuser. If need be touch up any stray strands with a curling iron.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Allure.com<\/a> gives us a more mature take on the half-up hair look and thank goodness because I can never seem to get this one right. Start by spritzing a texturizing spray on dry hair (they suggest Sally Hershberger Plump Up), and then finger-twist or use your favorite technique to get messy volume, finally pin a few pieces of the front section to the back with bobby pins. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We are definitely fans of the braid as a go-to style, but Allure gives us a whole new take on how to get the messy braided look. Sweep hair to the side and create a low braid (fishtail, Dutch etc.) and then here is the kicker\u2026 sleep in it! I mean how have I never thought of this before? Gone are the days of trying to so hard to create that effortless, too-cool messy look\u2026 all I have to do is sleep. <\/p>\n

Need something a little more put-together? Next time you have a few extra minutes to flat iron the tresses instead of going for the pin straight look, slightly flip out the ends with the iron. Finish with a shine spray or serum for a polished look.<\/p>\n
