It’s showTime! Yes, that’s right New York Fashion Week kicked off yesterday with an exciting array of Fall Collections. I always adore Richard Chai Love and for the last few years when Fashion Week starts his collections are always one of the first out of the gate. \u00a0This year there were two things that Mr Chai had me thinking about (aside from his phenomenal clothing) A) were sculpted cheekbones a prerequisite when he cast models? and B) maybe just maybe I can be persuaded to wear burgundy!<\/p>\n

His Fall Collection was filled with menswear inspirations that still embodied a feminine touch. \u00a0Think Ali McGraw in Love Story meets preppy 80’s coed meets grunge… In the very best way of course. I loved both the fitted and oversized jackets mixed with gossamer skirts and patent combat boots. And as always the tailored skirts, pants and dresses were absolutely perfect. \u00a0Chai somehow knows how to blend the proper with the relaxed seamlessly (pardon the pun)<\/p>\n

The color palette was primarily neutrals of gray, black and white with bits of burgundy as noted and blue thrown in. \u00a0Several of these looks will be going to my newly inaugurated Pinterest board for inspiration come fall… Or uhh now…<\/p>\n

Though there were plenty of shows to ooh and ahh over one of my favorites yesterday was Houghton. Katherine Polk created the most gorgeous collection in a chic color scheme of cream and white. \u00a0With a nod to the studio 54 era Bianca Jagger and the 1940’s Katherine Hepburn. \u00a0I couldn’t find one single look that didn’t make me drool… This type of clean silhouette means that you really have to be an expert at tailoring and trust me she is!<\/p>\n

I just loved the raw silks and refined silks in everything from streamlined to curve-hugging dresses to tuxedo detailing and evening pieces with beading and feathers. \u00a0If you want to capture someones attention wear one of these looks and see if anyone pays attention the girl in the little black or red dress.<\/p>\n

I could of course wax poetically about the Bauhaus explosion at BCBG or the deep gothic overtones of Kimberly Ovitz but I must give kudos to Jenni \u00a0Kayne instead. The elements of her collection included English Rider, mod ingenue and streetwise downtown chic all rolled into one fabulous ball of style. \u00a0<\/p>\n

From leather dresses and fur touk’s to slim suits and siren like gowns in a palette of earthy to jewel tones this has to be one of my favorite JK seasons in recent years. Take a Peek!<\/p>\n
