I know that I said that designer collaborations were one of the things I would change in 2011, but it is in fact 2012 now, and I am hoping that Jason Wu will redeem Target with his collection due to hit the store’s shelves in February. Wu is joining a growing list of designer names that have worked with the super store, including Gwen Stefani, Alexander McQueen, and Jean Paul Gaultier. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The limited edition collection will include women\u2019s apparel, scarves, and what I am most excited about\u2014handbags! Handbags are not a normal association one might make when hearing Wu\u2019s name and honestly I didn\u2019t make the connection myself at first, but after seeing this charming, floral printed, boxy bag my interest is definitely peaked. However, I kind of feel, at this point, that the bags are doing quite a bit to outshine the clothing. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

From the images that have been released thus far, by various magazines and fashion websites, the clothing just seems kind of\u2026Target (printed, fairly shapeless dresses, and skinny belts). Even still, I think that Wu\u2019s collection may pleasantly surprise me come February 5th. <\/p>\n

I am a huge fan of Jason Wu\u2019s ladylike looks and am excited that he remained true to his aesthetic for this collection.\u201cMy collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s,\u201d said Jason Wu. \u201cI\u2019ve had an incredible experience partnering with Target and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The collars, pleats, and belts are no doubt a nod to his Spring 2012 ready to wear collection. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Ranging in price from $19.99 to $59.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $49.99 for handbags and scarves, I do believe that Jason Wu\u2019s collection for Target is worth a visit and perhaps even a handbag purchase. It\u2019s affordability is what Trish Adams, Target\u2019s senior vice president of apparel and accessories, is convinced will make this particular collection a success, \u201cHis talent for creating modern, yet feminine designs translated beautifully into an affordable collection that our guests will covet the moment it\u2019s available.\u201d <\/p>\n

Though I don\u2019t think that this collection will cause quite the pandemonium that the Missoni collaboration did last year, I do think that Jason Wu will gain several new fans and customers with this collection. <\/p>\n
