I will admit that weekly manicures are not a habit for me. As a matter of fact I think I have had a professional manicure only three times in my entire life. It is not that I wouldn\u2019t like to get one every once in awhile, at the least, but I just don\u2019t seem to have the time. There are times I get inspired to do my own nails however the whole process of painting them without messing up and then attempting to touch nothing for 15 to 30 minutes is too much fuss for me. So, majority of the time my digits go sans nail polish\u2014I know that is a big no-no, but it is better than half chipped nails right?<\/p>\n

After reviewing the nail trends for fall I again got inspired to give painting my nails another go. With all the advancements in nail polish being made\u2014I mean you have quick dry, cracked, magnetic, and even chip-free nail polish, surely I can\u2019t go wrong.<\/p>\n

One of the most popular nail trends on the fall runways was colorful French manicures and not-so-French manicures. Beauty professionals at Jason Wu accented a burgundy nail with gold oval tips, a similar look at Jen Kao with a sapphire base. When doing a gold tip use other royal colors like blues, reds, and purples to create this look.<\/p>\n

The half-circle manicures, a kind of reverse French manicure, were seen at Phillip Lim who called them, “Yazuka’s flesh and ink.” To accomplish this subtle but pretty manicure create your base with CND\u2019s Desert Suede and the half circles with Midnight Sapphire polish. <\/p>\n

If these unique manicures are not your thing there were plenty of exciting solid looks to try. Graphite, a color true to its name, was seen on the models at Chanel… which I’m sure resulted in mass hysteria at Chanel cosmetic counters all over the world. This color is part of the Chanel\u2019s limited edition Fall nail polish collection which includes two other colors: Peridot a Gold-green color and Quartz a shiny version of griege. <\/p>\n

Deep reds and burgundy was seen on the runway at several shows including Caorlina Hererra, Binetti, and Salvatore Ferragamo. These colors look best on short square nails and finished with a super shiny top coat. Try CND\u2019s Dark Ruby (seen above) or Zoya\u2019s Paris a dark burgundy-red with brown undertones.<\/p>\n

Last but not least my favorite trend of the fall season\u2014neutral nails. Peach, sheer pinks, and beige were most common, with CND\u2019s Desert Suede showing up on what seemed like every runway. Everyone from Yves Saint Laurent to BCBG to Marc Jacobs showed this barley-there nail polish look. <\/p>\n
