Last night the CFDA Fashion Award nominees and honorees were announced at a chic fete’ at Diane Von Furstenburgs New York studio. The list included some of the most shining and respected names in the industry including Prabal Gurung, Eddie Borgo, Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang who were all part of the Fashion Fund list last year.<\/p>\n

The Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards was created to honor outstanding contributions to fashion. in the categories of womenswear, menswear and accessories along with accomplishments in journalism, and creative vision.<\/p>\n

Also included in the list is the incomparable Lady Gaga – Fashion Icon of the Year Honoree. I am waiting in bated anticipation for what she might wear to the actual event \u2026 I mean, what do you do to top the \u201cBorn This Way\u201d video or being encapsuled in a pod?<\/p>\n

Also on the list the incredible and legendary photographer Arthur Elgort and the brilliant Hillary Alexander from The Daily Telegraph U.K. .<\/p>\n

The lifetime achievement award was recently renamed to honor Geoffrey Beene and his incredible contribution to the industry.<\/p>\n

Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Alejandro Ingelmo, Eddie Borgo, Jason Wu, Pamela Love<\/p>\n

Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Marc Jacobs<\/p>\n

Board of Directors Award: Photographer Arthur Elgort<\/p>\n

International Award: Phoebe Philo<\/p>\n

Media Award: Hillary Alexander<\/p>\n

Founders Award: Hal Rubenstein<\/p>\n

Fashion Icon Award: Lady Gaga<\/p>\n

Each year, nominations for each award category are submitted by the CFDA membership along with a select group of fashion retailers, media \/ press, and stylists, and ratified by the CFDA Board of Directors. Awards nominees are voted on and announced at the CFDA Fashion Awards gala event.
\nThis year the CFDA Fashion Awards event will happen on June 6 at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. And I am sure this blogger will be covering the highlights of the evening as there are always plenty of note worthy red carpet moments.
\n The CFDA awards are generously underwritten by Swarovski this year will mark the 10th anniversary of the brands involvement with the CFDA.<\/p>\n
