Pinterest has become the go-to site for planning everything from your next dinner party, to an outfit for that special occasion and, of course, your wedding. According to BRIDES 2014 American Wedding Study 54-percent of brides using Pinterest to relay their wedding-day vision to planners and vendors and 64-percent creating boards for their big day – that’s a lot of pinsperation.

Planning a wedding on Pinterest can be tricky. Not only are there a million options, actually finding a pin that helps you plan can be hard. We have come up with a few tips to help you navigate planning a wedding through Pinterest.

Create a Secret Wedding Board

Pin as much as you want – without overloading your friends and family. If you are using a wedding planner (and anyone else you'd like actively involved in the planning process) invite them to see the board as well. That way, you can have a good representation of exactly what you want on your day.

Don't Let Pinterest Suppress Your Style

Do you have the perfect center piece in mind, but can’t find the picture? Create it yourself! Just because you can't find it on Pinterest doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Don’t get caught up in the trends of the season, stay true to yourself throughout the entire process. Your wedding should be a reflection of you, and if that means you want a bright color scheme instead of rustic chic, so be it.

Follow Your Favorite Wedding Brands and Designers

If you are still in the planning stages, keep tabs on what the wedding experts of the world are pinning to their boards. Its like having all of the best wedding magazines, in one pretty organized place.

Don’t Keep Reaching and Planning

Know when you have found the best – and stick with it. Nothing will drive you – and everyone – mad faster than changing your mind for the hundredth time because you found “something better on Pinterest”. Go with your gut – and no looking back. Always remember, it's your wedding, not anyone elses.

At the end of the day, Pinterest is a great place to get started for your wedding day. It is the perfect outlet full of ideas that you can visualize for your big day… but know when to step away from the key board and go find your inspiration!
