If you are planning a summer wedding, you’re probably envisioning something out of a movie or fairytale: a gorgeous mild temperature day.  What you are probably not envisioning is guests overheated, dehydrated and sweat pouring down the back of their dress attire. But, with the summer temps – and let’s face it, it still gets warm in Northern Arizona summers too - plan ahead and don’t let mother nature steal your wedding perfection.

1. Plan an Outdoor/Indoor Situation - Say your vows under a gorgeous scenic outdoor location – preferably in the evening – and then move the party indoors for more comfortable celebrations. Or, pick a venue that offers both settings, such as a ballroom and a lovely outdoor terrace.

2. Provide Cooling Tools - Have paper fans or small battery operated cooling mister fans for guests to cool off. These both also second as adorable party favors. Better to have these things on hand and no one need them, then not have them at all.

3. Useful Party Favors – Provide your guests with sunscreen or sunglasses! These are fun takeaways from the wedding as well.

4. Plenty of H2O - Have a water station for guests. This is a given, and easy to tie in with your colors and theme. Plus, your guests will thank you. Use this as an opportunity to

5. Watch the flowers – Flowers will wilt faster on hot days, so keep them to a minimum! If you are planning for flowers in your hair or as centerpieces, be aware that they may not stat picture perfect for the whole night.

6. Bug Spray and Candles – Think ahead and have bug spray and citronella candles available. Nothing worse than leaving a wedding covered in mosquito bites! That is not the parting gift you want to give your guests.

Outdoor weddings can be fun and gorgeous – but be prepared! Inform your guests of the location before hand, so they can aptly prepare as well.
