Bring Personality to Your Wedding

By Marissa Jo & Ashley Gain

Wedding planning can be such a whirlwind of venues, dresses, flowers, and food that you can forget to incorporate one of the most important details- YOU, darling!

Integrating your personality as a couple into the details of your wedding is essential and it can be more than just choosing your favorite colors and favorite food. When your wedding reflects who you are not only will you enjoy your wedding more, but so will your guests. We have a few suggestions to help you think of ideas on how to make your wedding more personal.

Start off your wedding right by picking one of your favorite songs to walk down the aisle to or your grand entrance into the reception. An unexpected song is refreshing and different for guests. Remember to make your day yours, not what 100s of couples before have done!

Centerpieces can be more than just flowers and a number on a table. Get creative and think of things that you and your fiancé love to do together and then incorporate them to glam up your centerpieces! If you love to travel, add a globe to each table. On each globe put a star on a different destination that you have been together or dream of going. Instead of putting the table number in a frame, label it on your favorite bottle of wine; your guests will appreciate it! Adding simple things like that your guests will feel like they are getting to know you as a couple better and will remember the special centerpieces you had.

If you are a couple who wants to dance the night away, you and your guests may get hungry before the night is over. A great way to put a little personality into your party is by bringing out one of your favorite foods for your guests as a late night snack. This snack does not need to be as fancy as your appetizers or dinner and can be something you really love. For example, bring out a cereal bar with you and your spouses favorite cereals or a frozen yogurt bar with a fun selection of toppings. This is a cute way to add a personal touch and will fuel all your guests up for more dancing.

Before saying a final goodbye to your guests, give them a favor that will help them remember how much fun they had at your wedding. If you’re a couple that likes the outdoors, give small potted plants as your favor that say “love grows”. Your favorite candy with a sticker that says, “love is sweet” is a good option if you are a couple with a big sweet tooth.

We know planning your wedding can be overwhelming but don’t let yourself get stressed out about the details. Think of the things that you and your groom love and it will make your planning much more enjoyable. If you make your wedding personal, no matter what details you add, you and your guests will love the outcome.
