DIY Mixes for Flawless Skin Care

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, covering your entire body.  Why not give this large organ a little extra love?  Taking care of your skin requires time and effort.  Featured below are five fabulous DIY skin-care products.  These products are recommended by Anit Hora, founder of Mullein & Sparrow, a skin-care line based in Brooklyn and can be found on Refinery 29.  These products and are simple to make and completely natural. It’s time to give your skin some lovin’!

1.  Fennel-Mint Foot Scrub

Ingredients:  

  • 2 tablespoons of slightly crushed fennel seeds
  • 3-4 tablespoons of any vegetable oil
  • 5-10 drops of mint essential oil

Directions:

To create this exfoliating scrub, simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl in the bathtub or shower.  Fair warning: This process tends to get messy!

2.  Papaya Brightening Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon papaya pulp
  • 1 tablespoon oat flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions:

To make this fab face exfoliator, simply mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and then apply as a mask for around 20 minutes.  Papayas are said to be wonderful exfoliators.  This mix will leave your skin refreshed!

3.  Oily Skin Care

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 cup almond meal
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • Witch hazel

Directions:

If you tend to have oily skin, this will be the perfect product for you!  First, combine the dry ingredients.  Then, use the witch hazel to make a paste.  After, scrub your oily areas and then rinse.

4.  Cucumber-Clay-Aloe-Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon cumber pulp
  • 1 tablespoon white clay
  • 2 tablespoon aloe gel

Directions:

First, mash the cucumber until a “pulpy” consistency is reached.  Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until you form a paste.  You’ll love this hydrating face mask!

5.  Floral-Oats Cleanser

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon oat flour
  • 1 tablespoon rose powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon chamomile powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon lavender powder

Directions:

To make this gentle exfoliating cleanser, simply mix it all together.  If you’re looking to use the powder for everyday use, mix the powder with water.  If you’re looking for more hydration, combine it with aloe gel.
