American Idol’s Pia Toscano Given Record Deal

Shocked. Sad. Confused. Mad. All feelings that came over me and many of my fellow American Idol watchers last Thursday, after Season 10 finalist Pia Toscano was given the boot. There seemed to be something wrong as many thought she could take the AI cake. But all is right in the world again. UsMagazine.com has confirmed that Pia has already scored a record deal less than 24 hours after being voted off from AI. Thank God!

From what could be the most shocking American Idol eliminations ever, the 22-year-old New York belle will now be working with Interscope Records, chaired by Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine, according to omg!.

“Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP,” a source tells Us. “Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it.”

Although Pia was criticized for her “stage presence,” it seemed everyone was buzzing about her upbeat performance to Ike and Tina Turner’s “River Deep – Mountain High.” She was the only contestant mentioned on Google News after the show. So who would have thought Wednesday would be her last performance on AI? Dry your eyes. Not only will her break out record be available for purchase, but she will be touring with the Top 10 Finalists over the summer for the Idols LIVE! concert tour.

As for the contract, the insider says, “Papers are being finalized. It’s basically a done deal. She’s signing. They rushed everything but she’s so excited.”

And as for the sweet singer who dedicated her success to her supportive grandmother who passed away, she is taking the exit rather well.

“You don’t know for sure why things happen, but you know, it did!” Pia said to reporters during a Friday conference call, according to omg!. “It was my time to go on the show and I’m excited to see what my future holds.”

Pia also took on such vocal divas as Whitney Houston and Celine Dion with her rendition of “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” and “All By Myself”.

Toscano didn’t soak in her own sadness for long. She performed on Live with Regis and Kelly on April 11 and is also set to appear and perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 14.
