POOL: All-New Mesa Marketplace

Specialty purveyors, small businesses, artisans and privately owned merchants have POOLed together to offer a different way to shop, socialize, eat and be entertained. This summer, POOL, the highly anticipated collaborative market will open its doors on July 30 with 38 merchants onsite and open for business!

However, the grand opening will be held in early September with as many as 20 additional merchants joining POOL and upon completion of the $3 million renovation currently taking place.

A first of its kind in Arizona, POOL features specialty merchants selling a diverse mix of high-quality products, food and merchandise year-round, seven days a week.

POOL’s merchants include a full-service floral boutique, children’s clothing boutiques, a barber shop, a vintage and modern hat shop, an art gallery, an embroidery company, fine and costume jewelers, a music company, a home décor boutique, a children’s toy and book shop and a Mesa Police Department substation, to name a few. Food merchants range from a coffee and tea shop to authentic empanadas, tantalizing cupcakes and shaved ice.

Get ready for fun-filled POOL events as it will also be a hub of activity, with entertainment happening weekly. Spaces within POOL will be dedicated, and in certain instances donated, to local artists, musicians, comedians, dance and performing troupes and chefs hosting cooking classes.

There are four areas within POOL including:

  • The Living Room: The Living Room is a place for social interaction including evening movies, free Wi-Fi, community theater on the venue’s stage, classes and more.
  • Farmer’s Market: An indoor/outdoor farmer’s market where fresh produce straight from local farms will be available.
  • The Garden: Created as an escape from the everyday, the indoor/outdoor garden space offers a variety of seating and dining areas, water features, shade and social spaces.
  • Meet/Gather/Rest/Learn: Select spaces adjacent to specialty food vendors with places to sit and mingle while waiting for friends. These spaces will also serve as the social hub for community events and programming.

POOL, located in the former Mervyn’s on the northeast corner of Stapley Drive and Main Street, when completed will house more than 100 merchants along with a restaurant in phase one, totaling 41,000 square feet of space. Phase two will include the balance of the 100,000-square-foot building.

Starting Friday, July 30 POOL is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (E Main Street Café opens at 7 a.m.). The grand opening is set for September 2010.
