Tempe’s SkirtChaser 5K and Valentine’s Block Party

It’s Valentine’s Day, a day for men to show their romantic side and chase the women – literally. This Saturday, February 13, men and women will line up for the annual SkirtChaser 5k race where the leading ladies will get a three-minute head start on the persistent men, and all will finish with a flirty block party in Tempe Town Lake!

A great way to burn some cals before indulging in the decadent Valentine’s Day (or week-long) chocolates, the race, starting at 2 p.m., is anticipating more than 1,200 participants who will run around Tempe Town Lake and enjoy the subsequent singles mixer. Mingle with your fellow competitors at the block party while taking pleasure in the free happy-hour style food, beer and wine! Yes… Free! Plus, girls will receive a free athletic skirt worth about $55 to wear while they run and to keep.

The women will start first, in a “Catch Me” wave, and the men will start three-minutes later, in the “SkirtChaser” wave. The first athlete to cross the finish line, male or female, will win $500! Appetizers will be dished out from local favorites and drinks will be brought to you by Red Bull and Oskar Blues Brewery. Additionally, a DriLex fashion show, “all the way down to the skivvies,” will feature SkirtSports and SkirtChaser products, emceed by Nicole DeBoom. The awards show will follow, where the first, second, and third place winners will receive their mullah.

The third annual SkirtChaser 5K race is sponsored by SkirtSports, Chipotle, Native, Sole, Power Bar, XOOD and Oskar Blues Brewery.

Tickets: $50 entry fee for women. $45 for men. All spectators are welcome at the block party for a $10 cover charge that is payable at the door. SkirtChaser does not process any cover charges ahead of time or online.
