One of the most anticipated events of the year is set to take place this weekend.  It’s officially time to celebrate the the “fastest two minutes in sports,” as riders, horses and fans gear up for the 141st Kentucky Derby.  You don’t need to commute all the way to Kentucky to participate in the festivities.  Featured below are the hottest place to see and be seen in the Valley during this year’s Kentucky Derby.

What:  Kentucky Derby Lawn Party
Where:  Scottsdale Fairmont Princess at Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak
When: May 2 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Details:  You can attend this Kentucky Derby soiree for a reasonable price of $85. Guests will view the beautiful Kentucky Derby silk horses on large plasma screens while enjoying the delectable brunch menu. The event will also include bourbon tastings, live music, a photo booth, lawn games and photos in the “Winner’s Circle.”

When: May 2 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Details:  Derby attire is advised, as guests who dress in spirit can enjoy food and drink specials. Those who don the most fabulous Derby hats will also be eligible to win one of the prizes for best hat.  Guests can also enjoy a selection of drink specials from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

What: Bubbles and Brown: Race for the Rose
Where:  Kelly’s at Southbridge
When: May 2
Details:  The event will feature $10 glasses of Perrier-Jouet Rose and $8 Makers Mark Mint Juleps, also known as the unofficial drink of the Kentucky Derby.  Attendees are encouraged to get in spirit, attending with their most stylish spring attire and biggest hat they can find. Awards will be given to those with the “Best Hat” and to the “Best Dressed Couple.”

What: Kentucky Derby Party at the Phoencian
Where:  The Phoenician, Phoenix
When: May 2 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Details:  Guests can attend this Kentucky Derby soiree for a reasonable price of $65 all inclusive.  Each guest will receive two complimentary mint juleps upon admission.  Not to mention, a portion of the proceeds will go to After the Homestretch, an organization that helps retired racehorses find homes.
