Sept. 4: 8 p.m.

California dreamin’? The beach isn’t too far away this Saturday as Beach Boys founding member Al Jardine is set to perform at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. Jive to some of his hits, including “Help Me, Rhonda,” “California Girls” and “Dance, Dance, Dance.” Jardine will also rock out to songs from his latest album “Postcard from California.” Plus, Dean Torrence of surf rockers Jan and Dean performs such songs as “Surf City,” “Dead Man’s Curve” and “Little Old Lady from Pasadena.”

Barbecue and Fireworks Show:
Sept. 4-5: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

“Tubers are encouraged to arrive early because tube availability and parking spaces decrease by noon. The latest tube rental is at 3 p.m. Glass containers are prohibited, and ice chests are inspected. Tubers must be age 8 or older and at least 4 feet tall. $15 per person/tube rental,” according to The Arizona Republic.

Skating
Sept. 3-6

Give the youngsters something to look forward to this weekend and let them participate in Club 54 at Great Skate in Glendale! The special weekend offers dancing and skating for youths 11-17 from 8 to 11 p.m. on Sept. 3. Try Great Skate’s Skating lessons from 9 to 10 a.m. On Sept. 4, Radio Disney-type tunes are played from 10 a.m. to noon, families skate from 1 to 3:30 p.m., a glow skate is featured from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with a darkened rink, and a teen skate begins from 7 p.m to midnight. On Sept. 5, family skating sessions run from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and 3:30 to 6 p.m. playing Christian music from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Head to Great Skate on Sept. 6 because you can skate for only $1.99 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from 5 to 9 p.m.
