Nestled under the shadow of the enchanting Santa Catalina Mountains, the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort is a luxurious AAA Four Diamond resort. Offering elegant Southwest-style rooms and suite accommodations, three golf courses, 31 tennis courts, four restaurants and more, it’s the perfect getaway for those looking to lose themselves in the captivating magic only the Sonoran desert can elicit.

Recently, the Hilton Tucson partnered with Pot A Gold Adventures, who manages the 18-horse stable on the property, to offer guests a chance to go horseback riding as part of the experience at the resort. Dubbed “El Conquistador Western Adventures,” this equestrian attraction features riding lessons and trail rides through the desert for one-, one and a half- and two-hour sessions.

“We want people to be able to have an adventure while they’re here,” says Lynne Gomez, marketing manager of Hilton Tucson El Conquistador, adding that the resort has focused on branding itself as more uniquely Southwest.

During the horseback riding experience, guests are taken with a professional guide and given instructions, making it relatively easy for people to get accustomed to the sport, Gomez says. The horses are mellow and the activity is open to everyone five years or older, no matter your riding experience. Guests can set up group riding trips or plan a romantic date for two anywhere from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily. Carriage and hayrides are available for the family as well. The trails around the property are densely populated with desert flora like saguaro cacti, prickly pears, mesquite trees and palo verdes.

Western Adventures comes at the cusp of a total renovation of the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador. Everything from the interior lobby spaces, lounge, pool areas and guest rooms have been upgraded, along with the addition of new areas like the technology lounge, Gomez says. Renovations are expected to be finished this spring.
