From carrying your own canvas shopping bags to choosing organic produce and energy-efficient light bulbs, being green sure has become trendy—and we mean that in a good way. Tucson is an especially earth-conscious city—the American Lung Association ranked Tucson as being the No. 6 city in the country for clean air in their “State of the Air: 2009” report. Here are a few green tidbits about Tucson venues and activities to expand your eco-I.Q.

Accommodations
The majority of Tucson’s premier resorts are taking measures to green up their businesses—and were not just talking about the simple towel reuse recommendations. Loews Ventana Canyon is an EPA-Energy Certified resort, utilizing low-flow toilets, energy-efficient light bulbs, Energy-star laundry appliances and many local and organically grown crops and meats in their restaurants. JW Marriott Starr Pass also prides itself on its 95 percent sustainable atmosphere, including their partnership with the Tohono O’odham Nation to offer organic, local produce to resort guests. Other increasingly green Tucson accommodations include the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, Hotel Congress, the Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort and many others.
