Golf Course Renovations at El Conquistador

The Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort has announced new renovations to its two world-class golf courses. After the July 2012 storms, severe damage was caused to the courses. Now, the courses are back and better than ever!

The resort recently invested $3 million to improve the courses, The Conquistador and The Cañada. The enhancements will allow players to enjoy the same comfort the Hilton has always offered, with an exciting and challenging desert golf experience.

Both 18-hole courses have 103 bunkers, which have all been renovated with new drainage, liners, and filled with pioneer white sand. The washes running through the courses have been redone with clean new edges and re-graded wash bottoms. Many turf areas have been re-seeded, making the greens and fairways exceptionally lush and full. The desert areas surrounding every hole are being smoothed and re-landscapes. Adding to the desert experience, 21 mesquite and Palo Verde trees are being planted throughout the courses. Finally, extensive work is being done to repair the cart paths.

Lynn Eriksen, general manager at the resort, said that the courses are in the best condition they have been since they first opened to the public. Now is the perfect time for golfers to enjoy the par 71 Conquistador and par 72 Cañada golf courses. The Conquistador offers a lush, park-like setting while the Cañada course offers mountain views and saguaro covered hillsides to enhance the desert experience.

The Conquistador also offers a third, nine-hold course, the Pusch Ridge golf course, located on resort property. The course features a 2,788-yard layout filled with challenging dips and climbs.

The public can enjoy play on all three of the courses along with members of the El Conquistador Golf Club. The club is now offering a trial membership with a $1,250 initiation fee and dues of $435 per month for full club access. These members have access to the fitness and tennis facilities, have discounts at club and resort restaurants, and have access to exclusive “members only” events. Green fees for non-members start at $49.

With Arizona’s beautiful “winter” weather, now is the perfect time for a day of play on the newly renovated courses. To book a tee time, call 520.544.1800 or visit the website.
