Looking for live music in Tucson? The Tucson Jazz Society is where your search will begin and end.

This fall, the Tucson Jazz Society will present several live music events featuring uber talented artists and bands.

Labor Day weekend is the prime time to kick back, relax and enjoy Tucson’s milder weather. On Sunday, September 5 at 7 p.m., Loews Ventana Canyon Resort will be the backdrop for a live event to remember. Artist, Jackiem Joyner, has come a long way since was told he’d “look good” playing the sax when he got to high school. At 28, the versatile artist, composer and producer—who was chosen Debut Artist of the Year by industry tastemaker Smooth Jazz News—is “growing up” fast in the urban jazz world, no longer the new kid in the mix. Joyner’s walked a crazy tightrope balancing his newfound career at center stage with his equally busy and diversifying career as a top call sideman playing among such genre superstars like Peter White, Wayman Tisdale, Joe Sample and Gerald Albright, in addition to his ongoing stint with internationally renowned keyboardist Keiko Matsui.

If the Labor Day tunes whet your music chops, the Downtown Tucson Latin Jazz Festival is the next social event of the season. Last year's inaugural Downtown Tucson Latin Jazz Festival was a smash hit that attracted hundreds of merry-makers for a weekend of infectious music and dancing. This year's festival on September 10-11 promises to bring even more fans to Tucson's city center. On Friday night, from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the Salsa Dance Party in the La Placita Village courtyard will include a free concert by lively Tucson band Tito y Su Nuevo Son; a beer garden and margaritas will ensure everyone has the time of their lives. On Saturday night at 8 p.m. Afro-Cuban music legend Larry Harlow promises to bring the audience to its feet with a concert at Leo Rich Theatre in the Tucson Convention Center plaza. General admission tickets are $25.
