Tucson’s multitude of art galleries and historic art dedications have long placed Tucson on Arizona’s art and culture radar. This weekend, art aficionados will have the opportunity to peruse unique exhibits in search of one-of-a kind art by local artisans at the ARTmarket.

The indoor exhibition will be held at the Tucson Mall, a superb venue to beat the heat, and feature more than 120 artists.

One of only four weekends this year to catch the indoor ARTmarket, this Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 is the second to last opportunity to attend the market. The final weekend event of the year will take place August 28th and 29th.

While art galleries are sometimes not kid-friendly, the ARTmarket provides an opportunity for kids to participate in activities at no charge to attendees. Kids activities include face painting, jewelry and beading, foil and tissue paper art, coloring, balloon twisting, a hands-on culinary arts pavilion, theater and dance performances, instrument making, and inflatable playgrounds to keep kiddies entertained.

General Growth Properties and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance thought through all the planning of the event and have incorporated other form of art into the experience via live musical performances showcasing local artists.

An aspect that sets this art exhibition apart from numerous others is its “juried” art policy. The term “juried” applies to artists and crafters who showcase work created solely by them. The ARTmarket is a juried festival and only handmade artisan product will be displayed for sale and appreciation by attendees.

ARTmarket hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
