A personal tour of this exquisite 13,000 sq. ft. abode.
The owner of this 13,000 square-foot home, Bentley Calverley, CEO of Bentley Gallery/Bentley Projects, is one of the most distinguished art dealers in the Southwest. And a personally guided tour inside reveals what makes her $3,299,000 million home - so rare.
The contemporary home embraces her private collection of rare Asian and African artifacts in every room, many from the 16th century and 3,000 BC. The Soejima Taneomi 1865 screens pictured below with Bentley, for example, are among the striking pieces in the entry way. “The artist was a Samurai who became a diplomat,” says Bentley who passionately shares the stories behind the sculptures, textiles and furniture in almost every room of the home.
The 4 bedroom, 4 baths and 2 half baths, 2 -floor home located in the prestigious Arcadia area, which is listed with Walt Danley Realty has warm spaces that flow seamlessly together. The two large living rooms, for example, each with a fireplace, flow into the dining room, a chef's eat- in- kitchen, media room, and library/den, also with a fireplace.
Among the rare artifacts in the living room above, note the piano under the magnificent chandelier. It’s a one of a kind Steinway of which there are only three left in the world. (Four of those Steinways were lost in World War II.)
On the second floor, (pictured above) is an incredible gallery with 14’ ceilings that meets true museum standards. In fact, the Getty Museum helped with the lighting. The walls are fire retardant and the space has a dedicated state-of-the-art security system.

Also upstairs is a master suite, with a spacious office with an exercise room. There’s also a guest apartment over the four car garage. Outside, the pool, koi pond and tea house complement the lush, secluded grounds.
Bentley, who has loaned pieces from her private collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Art Institute of Chicago and Los Angeles County Museum of Art; bought her first piece at 16. She skipped school to attend an auction and carried the huge tapestry home on a bus. It’s now mounted and hanging in her stairway.
So who will purchase this artistic masterpiece? Stay tuned.
