Kathy reports why the stars flocked to downtown Phoenix.

Probably not since the Super Bowl, have so many familiar faces at once trekked to downtown Phoenix. And my voice and emails have been abuzz about the famous actors, authors and artists - -  joining the pop culture experience unfolding at the Phoenix Convention Center.

From Ron Perlman (who's as charismatic as his tall) known for "Sons of Anarchy" and "Beauty and Beast"  to Alyson Hannigan  star of "How I Met Your Mother" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and Charisma Carpenter of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Baywatch"…… this event has exploded in popularity.  It's Phoenix Comicon  and it's much more than just a comic book convention.

It's a chance for the public to be able to meet hundreds of well knowns in the entertainment business. Amidst 600 vendors and tables of collectables, the four day event from May 28-31, has grown to  four floors and spread out to three nearby hotels.  There are autograph and photo opportunities, although they come with a price-tag (displayed at the celeb's table). Science fiction fans are donned in elaborate hero costumes of course, but the crowd is eclectic. (Admission and special event prices vary, so check their website)

There are stars of varying generations from David Morrisey of "The Walking Dead" to Christopher Lloyd of "Back to the Future"  Jason Momoa of "Game of Thrones" and other well known actors including Edward James Almos, Katie Sackhoff and Mary McDonnell all of "Battlestar Galactica."

Over the many years I've been reporting on social events, this is definitely one where many people are dressed to impress!
