Back stage moments with Craig Jackson, (his lucky new bride), Boyz II Men, and the galas....

Part of the Barrett-Jackson excitement is the pageantry of the private parties.. including the dazzling invitation-only opening night gala. Amidst the pricey automotive jewels and the partygoers donning millions of dollars in diamonds, there were several of Caroll Shelby’s treasures. The swanky evening was also a tribute to the automotive designer and racer who died in May 2012. It was the night of his birthday and Shelby would have been 90 years old.

Also on the list of Barrett- Jackson private parties was a fancy pre-auction “Drive the Dream” gala  to benefit Childhelp USA. Pictured above are Craig Jackson and his new bride Carolyn mingling backstage with Boyz II Men, the R & B group which headlined the dinner event.

(By the way, Craig and Carolyn Mullany were married on Christmas Eve at a very, very private surprise wedding for family and close friends at Craig’s luxurious automotive filled home in Paradise Valley.)

The dinner honored the newly retired U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl and wife Caryll Kyl and the guest list  boasted political heavyweights such as the Mayor of Phoenix Greg Stanton, the Mayor of Scottsdale Jim Lane, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and  Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne

The live auction fetched hundreds of thousands of dollars for just a few high end items- with a 2012 Toyota Tundra going to the highest bidder for $100,000!   (That’s no typo- it’s one hundred thousand.)

Other celeb guests were Childhelp ambassador and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, the multi-talented actor and singer John O’Hurley, race car entrepreneur  Bob Bondurant.

And a big shout out to the Phoenix Police Department and Phoenix Police Chief Daniel Garcia. They were awarded with the Childhelp Voice of the Children Spirit Award!
