Tonight: Charitable Oktoberfest Dinner

This evening, Rico’s American Grill at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort is hosting a special charitable dinner in honor of Oktoberfest and a very special Valley nonprofit. At 6:30 p.m., Rico’s will host a Beer for Brains Foundation dinner with each course paired to beers by Munich-based Paulaner Brewing. Throughout the dinner,  Rico’s chef and a brew master from Paulaner Brewing will explain the pairing for each dish. Menu highlights include:

    • Seared scallop with grilled asparagus-toasted caper and almond butter, sweet onion marmalade and sweet pea bisque. Paired with Paulaner Pilsner.
    • Beer Braised Veal Shank with tepery bean and Roasted trumpet mushroom ragout, warm pork belly and Brussels sprout leaf salad, preserved lemon and honey infused olive oil. Paired with Paulaner Salvator.
    • Deconstructed sweet potato pie with spun sugar, spiced caramel corn and drunken whipped cream. Paired with Paulaner Oktoberfest.

Perhaps the best part of the Rico’s dinner, funds from these evening’s event go to local organization, Beer for Brains. Founded by Louis and Laurie Dolgoff, Beer for Brains raises public awareness and funds for brain cancer research through large-scale craft beer appreciation and fundraising events. Proceeds raised by Beer for Brains are donated to the Barrow Brain Tumor Research Center (BBTRC) in Phoenix. (The BBTRC is a part of the Barrow Neurological Institute, a leading institute for brain tumor imaging, brain tumor surgery, cancer research, and stem-cell science in the United States.) The Oktoberfest beer-paired dinner is priced at $59 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and requires reservations. Reservations can be made by calling 602.997.5850. http://www.squawpeakhilton.com/.
