Kudos to the Arizona Corporation Commission for taking the first steps “to examine whether to deregulate the state’s electric markets and introduce open competition for consumers,” according to the Phoenix Business Journal.
The effort by Arizona Public Service to crush Arizona solar illustrates perfectly the need for the monopoly’s end. Utility monopolies like APS are wising up to the threat that solar presents to their bottom lines and now they fear a future they don’t control.
The move by the ACC will serve to keep APS in check and hopefully put the monopoly on a path of thinking about Arizonans instead of just profits.
