Exclusive Pampering Via Puerta Privada

Scottsdale is full to the brim with some of the world’s most amazing spas, so it can be hard to dazzle locals with exciting new spa treatments or experiences that they have never come across before. However, a brand new experience at Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia is sure to knock the socks off of even the most seasoned spa-hopping pro.

Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia’s new Puerta Privada is the ultimate wellness experience that offers exclusivity for couples—as well as utter relaxation, of course. On Saturdays and Sundays, starting at 7:30 p.m., Puerta Privada guests are invited into the resort’s Joya Spa after they knock on the door—because the spa is closed to other guests at that time—and provide a password. (A spa professional calls beforehand to provide this, as well as discuss preferences for your treatment.)

After being guided through the spa, Puerta Privada guests get to enjoy one of Joya’s over-the-top spa suites (featuring a huge bed and soaking tub with plenty of romantic accents, like candles and plush pillows) and the spa’s rooftop pool for about a half hour. Then, the therapists arrive to perform an hour-long, muscle-melting couples’ massage.

If exclusive access to the spa and a couples’ massage is not romantic enough, the private, poolside four-course meal that follows the treatment certainly is. The custom dinner created by Montelucia’s Executive Chef Michael Cairns is made with the diners in mind. As with the spa treatment, a rep from the kitchen calls the guests beforehand to go over dietary restrictions, preferences and more. The wine-paired dinner is luxurious enough (hello, sea bass) to make the diners feel like they are having a truly special evening but light enough (think a summer fruit gazpacho) that you don’t feel riddled with guilt for eating so late in the evening.

Between courses, couples are invited to admire the stars and explore the constellations via the iPad that is provided. Or, simply kick back—while still in your robe, of course—and savor some quiet moments under the star-filled sky with your loved one in the lap of luxury.

$750-plus, depending on suite and seasonality. Bookings should be made at least a week in advance due to limited space. www.omnihotels.com/Montelucia. Melissa Larsen
