Yes, it’s happening. The sun is coming out and the clothes are coming off—to reveal swimsuits of course. This summer, one such hotel group is gathering all their Southern California transplants to bring about their Rooftop Pool Lounges. And as much as you enjoy being in the pool, we’re giving you more reason to enjoy being around the pool as Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants takes entertaining to another offering rooftop lounging opportunities for guests.
First up, Santa Barabara’s Canary Hotel features special happy hours and events throughout the summer. Enjoy sangria Sunsets every Sunday evening, from 4-7 pm, from June through mid-October. Pitchers of sangria are available for $15, and a special food menu is offered, including $2 oysters and a selection of seasonal ceviches for $6. The hotel also throws a “Wine on the Roof” event every Monday from 5:30- 8 pm from June through mid-October. The hotel partners with local wineries such as Dragonette, Jaffurs, Summerland, Presqu’ile, Carr, and Margerum. Guests pay $25 for tastes from the featured winery, and there are some additional complimentary nibbles from the restaurant. Hotel guests get a discount and only have to pay $15. Guests who bring back their reusable GOVINO wine glass will save $5 each week. What’s more, center yourself with complimentary yoga classes on the roof every Saturday at 8 a.m.
Next, the newest addition to Kimpton, Los Angeles’ The Hotel Wilshire, offers panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills, The Roof on Wilshire restaurant and bar, semi-private dining cabanas, lap pool, lounges and an intimate sunken firepit. Guests can enjoy a complimentary Wine Hour on The Roof every night from 5-6 p.m, or cuddle up on the rooftop level for complimentary Movies in the Penthouse, screening movies such as “Chinatown,” “LA Confidential,” “LA Stories,” “Pretty Woman,” Hitchcock films, “Casablanca” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” Gourmet popcorn and other snacks are served.
And if you’re looking to actually get in the pool, The Hotel Wilshire takes its yoga service up a notch by offering hotel guests monthly Aqua Yoga classes on Saturday mornings in its lap pool. Taught by Lululemon Ambassadors, it’s a great way to stay cool during a non-impact yoga workout.
Hotel Solamar in downtown San Diego and Hotel Palomar San Diego in the city’s Gaslamp Quarter each offer plush amenities at the poolside along with some live music (at Hotel Palomar) and weeknight specials at LOUNGEsix (at Hotel Solamar).
