Founded in 2000, Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue group specializing in American Pit Bulls and American Staffordshire Terriers, but accepts all breeds into their rescue as space permits. A family-run, home-based organization, Valley of the Sun rescues dogs that are ill, injured, abandoned or simply unwanted. Some dogs are saved from local shelters. Volunteers offer temporary refuge while dogs await adoption into forever homes. Please visit valleyofthesundogrescue.com or call 480-228-0126 for more information about Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue.

Scared and injured, two-year old Calypso was abandoned at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control along with a litter of puppies. A deep cut stretched the length of her chest, the result of an embedded harness. The wound was so severe that recovery took months. Today, she is a beautiful, happy and playful dog looking for the second chance she deserves. Housebroken and crate trained, she gets along with well with children and other animals, including cats. She’s even provided cheer to seniors on a visit to an assisted living facility. Calypso will make a wonderful addition to a family. If you have room in your heart and home for Calypso, please contact Kathy Swaney at 480-228-0126 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
