Describe a typical day in your life: There is never a “typical day” in the life of the president of a business or a clothing designer, and in this case I juggle both.  But if I have to nail it down? My mornings are mostly about business operations and meetings dealing with finance allocation, manufacturing negotiations, pursuing potential store accounts and scheduling. My afternoons and nights are more reserved for the design and production work I do. This includes finding seasonal inspiration, sourcing fabrics, sketching, technical design, pattern making, fitting and sample sewing. It’s a lot, but it is what I am supposed to do with my life, that much I am sure of.

I was born…

Well, my family is originally from Chicago, but I happened to make my debut into the world in Omaha, Nebraska. Shortly thereafter my parents moved to St. Louis and I have been here for the last 21 years!

My favorite thing about Arizona…

is being able to vacation there! When I was growing up it was my grandmothers favorite getaway, and I would get to tag along to see the red rocks every once in a while. We would spend days shopping and doing various tourist-y things, but the best part was the nights. She and I laid out on the chairs by the pool and stare at the stars until I fell asleep. They were so bright. I’ll always have those memories.

I’m listening to…

a little bit of everything. Always. Music really inspires me to create. A few favorites are Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera and Beyoncé. But really anything that I can understand the words to. I like a good story.

My family…

should be in a sitcom. I would never actually put them through reality TV, but we have a lot of material. My dad is the business man, most comparable to “That 70’s Show” patriarch Red Forman, with a bigger heart and soft side. My mom, the reformed “dance mom,” is in retail sales and marketing and knows everything about everything. No, really, ask her a question. My younger brother, is in finance and investment banking, and I’m really proud of his determination. Ever since he decided we could be friends, and stopped the “I’m not touching you” game on road trips, we haven’t had a dull moment. However comical, I couldn’t ask for a better support system to help ground me on my journey in life.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Mark Cuban. Learn from the best.

One thing I cannot live without…

quite time. I need time to reflect and be thankful.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a professional signer/performer. My dad put me on his shoulders at my first concert (Reba/Brooks and Dunn) and Reba pointed and waved at me. I thought it was destiny. I retired from that career after my farewell set in the 8th grade talent show. These days, I’m know to sing in the shower ever so often.

I’m inspired by…

stories, movies, music, dance, art, people and mostly my social friends.

The one person who motivates me is…

all of my family and friends, but mostly myself. You have to want it right?

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

poverty.

The perfect day would be…

exploring new places. I want to travel the world.

My first job was…

a babysitter for all of the neighborhood kids and friends of family.

My favorite escape…

anywhere that isn’t my office.

My life…

is a work in progress, I’ll get back to you on this.

I’m currently working on…

the Spring/Summer 2015 RTW collection that will be in Phoenix Fashion Week in October!

Always…

be thankful for the opportunities that you have been offered.

Never…

dwell on the negatives or set backs, they are only challenges to prepare you for the successes that lie ahead.

Favorite Quote…

“Makeup can only make you look pretty on the outside, but it doesn’t help if you’re ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the makeup.” –Audrey Hepburn

And

“What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language.”—Miuccia Prada

Biggest Dream… Turning my contemporary clothing line into a lifestyle brand that includes women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, interior décor, fragrance, lingerie, active and swim.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

excuses for laziness.
