Name: Garrett Shinoskie

Title:
Director of Athletic Performance

Olivia May, 15 months

I was born…

Columbus, Ohio.  Home of The Ohio State Buckeyes!

My favorite thing about Arizona…

is heat lightning.  I grew up loving thunderstorms, but I can’t stand the rain.  So the heat lightning out here gives me the best of both worlds.

I’m listening to…

Frank Ocean’s album Channel Orange.  I love all genres of music and typically listen to something that reflects my mood or current state of mind.

My family…

is my heart and soul.  They are foundation for everything that I am and anything I will ever become.  Without them I would be truly lost.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

myself when I was 16, so I could tell myself what mistakes to avoid in the future.  Although since I thought I knew everything back then, the younger me would probably just hear the voice of the teacher from Charlie Brown.

One thing I cannot live without…

is air, seriously try holding your breath and you’ll see what I mean.  Next question

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

an Astronaut/Cowboy.  Turns out NASA had terminated the program in the late 60’s, something to do with not being able to ride off into the sunset.

I’m inspired by…

the people that work hard every day to get themselves one step closer to their dreams.  Everyone wants to be successful, but few people are willing to put in the hard work it takes to achieve it.

The one person who motivates me is…

my father.  Seeing him work from sunrise to sunset everyday to provide a great life for our family and never complain about life being hard, is motivates me every morning when I wake up.  He will always be my role model.

If could change anything in the world, it would be…

I’m going with no comment on this one, the world isn’t ready for the changes I would make.

The perfect day would be…

a beautiful spring day barbequing with family and friends.

My first job was…

working construction for my dad.  It is definitely the toughest job I’ve ever had.

My favorite escape…

is fishing in Alaska.  I’ve been three times and it is truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.

My life…

is never taken for granted.  I make sure my family and friends know how much they mean to me.  I try to experience new things and meet new people.  I truly live!

I’m currently working on…

some new training and nutrition protocols for my clients.  Got to stay hungry and strive to be the best coach I can be.

Always…

say what you mean, and make sure your actions back up your statements.

Never…

give up, even if you fail at something don’t let it defeat you.
