I was born…

in Phoenix, Arizona. Yes, I’m an AZ native and my parents are too!

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the scorpions and running into a rattler on a trail run. NO! I love the sunsets, the mountains, the clouds. So lovely.

I’m listening to…

XM Channel 87 (Fantasy Football). I am the commissioner of my fantasy football league and am preparing to draft a championship winning team! I am just a tad competitive 😉

My family…

lives in Arizona with the exception of my only (and favorite) sibling, Kristin. She’s an amazing stylist in Los Angeles. I am lucky to have everyone so close to me!

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Johnny Cash, the man in black. LOVE his music.

One thing I cannot live without…

my crazy little chihuahua, Reese Barkley. Yes, he’s named after Sir Charles Barkley.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a cowgirl. Still do, actually. A cowboy boot-wearing, horse-riding, sports dietitian who races triathlons. Sounds good to me.

I’m inspired by…

Chrissie Wellington, pro triathlete wonder. That girl kicks butt with a beaming smile. And triathlete Craig “Crowie” Alexander who’s mantra is, “The more you experience pain, the more you realize you’re in control of it.” Mental toughness – this inspires me!

The one person who motivates me is…

the love of my life and husband, John. He has an endless supply of energy and drive, and an eternally positive outlook on life. He truly makes me a better person.

If could change anything in the world, it would be…

fast food restaurants advertising their food as healthy! Let’s call a spade a spade – fast food is fast and cheap, but not healthy.

The perfect day would be…

a challenging half ironman (70.3) race followed by a hot shower, nap, and dinner/drinks with my husband. The perfect combination of pain and reward.

My first job was…

Sam’s Ice Cream in the food court of Paradise Valley Mall. I won’t pretend I didn’t pack on a few pounds at this job. Oh, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups…

My favorite escape…

a long ride or trail run (preferably in weather under 100 degrees), yoga.

My life…

has taken many twists and turns in the last 5 years resulting in a life more beautiful, fulfilling, and rewarding than I ever thought possible. I am one lucky girl.

I’m currently working on…

a growing a business that I am proud of, helping athletes see the importance of good nutrition in their training and everyday life, inspiring others to change their lives by getting involved in triathlon. It’s more than a sport –it represents a lifestyle!

Always…

refuel with a 4:1 ratio of carbohydrate:protein after workouts 60 minutes or longer!

Never…

underestimate what you are capable of!
