AFM: What are you looking forward to seeing or experiencing while in town for the Maricopa County Home and Garden Show?

JS: I'm looking forward to seeing all of our fans in Arizona! I remember this crowd being a lot of fun!

AFM: “Property Brothers” is such a smash. What have you felt about its success?

DS: We are just so grateful that we've been able to share what we do with audiences all over the world. We continually strive to improve and innovate so that we can keep inspiring people in fresh, new ways.

AFM: What is your No. 1 tip for someone preparing their house for the market?

DS: Be objective and put yourself in the shoes of a potential buyer. Remember that a house is as good as its weakest area, no matter how minuscule so don't just spend your entire budget on one area while leaving smaller issues unattended to.

AFM: A renovation is a huge undertaking. What words of advice do you have to prepare a homeowner who is about to renovate?

JS: Plan, plan, plan! Set a clear and realistic budget (with a contingency plan), hire the right professionals, and get everything in writing - you'll be more comfortable and knowledgable throughout the process. Surprises may arise but you'll be better prepared to handle it.

AFM: What are a few easy ways for someone to freshen up their space, without doing a major reno?

DS: Lighting can make an impressive difference. Ensure each room has the appropriate and sufficient amount of light. This doesn't have to cost much - you can get beautiful fixtures from big box stores or find great deals online. Also try to take advantage of whatever natural light your house receives - giving your window treatments an update can instantly give an entire room a facelift.

AFM: You both seem to truly love what you do. What is your favorite part of your job?

JS: Being creative and constantly challenging myself to learn more in any project that I take on.

DS: My favorite part of our work is simply creating! Whether it's a dream home or producing a TV show, it's great to be able to collaborate with so many amazing people to build something from the ground up, and then sharing it with our fans!

AFM: What’s up next for you both?

JS: We just launched Scott Living, our furniture line, so we are excited that our audiences finally have the chance to have our designs in their own homes!

DS: We are hosting our first-ever cruise for all of our fans - we'll be sailing the Caribbean on Sailing with the Scotts, and we have some designer friends joining us! It's going to be a blast. We're also finishing our first book so be sure to keep an eye out on the shelves for that! I think it's safe to say that we enjoy being busy.
