Laufen’s Swiss-Chic Bathrooms

Palomba Collection

When building or renovating a home, it’s typically important to the owner to seek out pieces and finishes that are unique and have personality. This goes for the largest rooms in the home, as well as some of the smallest, i.e. the bathroom or powder room. If you’re looking to add a fresh touch to your washroom, one brand that won’t have you seeing the same old ho-hum finishes and fixtures is Switzerland’s Laufen.

Since 1892, Laufen has been creating “bathroom culture” in powder rooms and washrooms around the globe with their engineering excellence, precision, reliability, thoroughness, quality and of course, their unique and fresh designs. Although Laufen creates a number of interesting bathroom lines, here are a few of our favorites:

Palomba Collection
Designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, this collection features pieces that are inspired by both nature and technology—two ideas that are not typically thought of as a pair. With a new play on contemporary, the Palomba collection is created through geometric and organic shapes, offering unique items like the vessel sink with lagoon-shaped basin.

IL BANGO ALESSI DoT
Even if you can’t pronounce this collection’s name, you will find yourself bragging about these bathroom additions again and again, which are defined by cubes, circles and sloping surfaces. Created by Dutch architect Wiel Arets for Laufen (who was called the “design hero of the 21st century by Alberto Alessi), this series includes enough geometric slanting and sloping to remain interesting, but not overpower the room. This collection includes suspended washbasins, a washbasin with integrated pedestal, toilets, bathtubs, vanities and a shower tray.

IL BANGO ALESSI One
Designed by famed Italian architect and designer Stefano Giovannoni, the IL BANGO ALESSI One collection is both timeless and playful as well as romantic and curvaceous, as each piece is based on rounded lines. The collection includes toilets, accessories, a bathtub and the hand-crafted washbasin and integrated pedestal, which was the recipient of the Design Plus award.

MyLife
The MyLife collection by frog design and Helmut Esslinger is inspired by the importance for well-being, and includes clean lines, symmetry and practicality through much-needed storage. The products available in the MyLife line (washbasins with a basic form, furniture and toilets) prove to be quite soothing and are timeless in their form, making it a clean and simple collection that will never go out of style in your home.
