White After Labor Day

Sparse modern decor of home office

Labor Day marks the monumental end of summer and beginning of fall, and that is the reasoning behind the cardinal fashion rule to eliminate white from your wardrobe after the holiday. While fashion critics may say to steer clear, that is no reason to remove the hue from your home as well. There are many ways to keep your home full of bright whites all year long.

Using a variety of white shades breaks up the monotony of all-white décor. Try throwing in some cream, off-white, beige and ivory as well to give your space some depth.

When decorating with all white, or shades of white, try experimenting with different textures throughout. The use of fur, wood, leather and acrylic materials are attention grabbing in a room of all white.

I think decorating in white is also great for implementing seasonal updates in your home. It makes it simple to incorporate different holiday color schemes.  The addition of warm hues as an accent color can spruce up a space for fall, and when the holidays roll around, add some deep winter reds and twinkle lights to get in the spirit of the season.
