Muu, A New Children’s Furniture Line

As soon as I saw this adorable baby furniture I knew it had to be featured both in our print magazine and on our new In House blog. Its the stuff that makes us all want to have kids right now. You can see our choice crib (the Sam Crib) in the April issue, out soon, but meanwhile you can bask in these images.

Not only was I impressed by the ultimate cuteness of this line, but I loved the safety of it and the thought that the designer put into making it all.

Muu tells us that over 3.5 million cribs have been recalled and/or subjected to regulatory action by the CPSC since the beginning of 2007 and not one of them was manufactured in the United States, giving just another reason to buy local and support the American economy and safety guidelines.

The Story behind Muu is as follows: Robert Kwak, parent, entrepreneur and woodworker, was concerned with safety and quality when researching cribs for his first child. His daughter was born nine months later and his first collection of children’s furniture, called Muu, debuted shortly after her birth. Muu is a modern children’s furniture collection that is customizable, sustainable and Made in the USA. Muu is manufactured in upstate New York by a woodworking family with over three decades of experience.

By producing Muu in the United States, Kwak is able to all sorts of things we dig:
• Maintain a high degree of quality control
• Go Green! Reduce the company’s carbon footprint by decreasing the distance traveled between the source of production and the customer “Manufacturing in the United States is a win for everyone: we support the local economy, reduce our environmental impact and are able to deliver a high-quality product with enduring value to our customers,” says Kwak.

To our surprise, Muu just debuted this fall and is already available at various chic retailers across the country including Green Depot in New York, NY; Petit Tresor and Juvenile Shop in Los Angeles, CA; City Sprouts in St. Louis, MO; Little Artika in Phoenix, AZ (one of our fave new stores in town); Oompa in Madison, WI; freckle face in Milwaukee, WI; Grow Modern Kids in Chicago, IL; Olive and Bean in Las Vegas NV, Style Child in San Diego; My Little Bebe in San Marino, CA; Sprout in San Francisco, CA.

We have a feeling this line will be seen in more stores very soon. If none of these are nearby, just order online at http://muukids.com

  1. Almost makes me want to have kids…. but I think that still a few years out. It’ll be exciting to decorate with furniture like this when the time is right.

  2. Absolutely adorable. I think even a few of the dressers and nightstands can be used for teens. My best friend is having a baby soon–I’ll need to send her the link.

  3. Aww I love how you can get pieces with designs and colors that really match the personality of your child. The butterfly nightstand is my fave!

  4. I think this line of furniture is absolutely adorable, but what makes it more appealing is its safety first mentality.

  5. my brother’s wife is having a babay soon, and i will totally forward them this info – its so cute and made in the USA too!

  6. I love the Sam Dresser. The picture looks like one of my favorite flowers. Perfect for a little girl!
