I got VERY ridiculous yesterday. I swung like Tarzan (the Ahhhhhhh…ahh..ah..ah…ah! and all), bounced zero-gravity style across the moon, traversed a teetering tightrope on my tippy toes, bounded, climbed, hurdled, army crawled, belly-flopped and plowed face first down the world’s largest inflatable slide. No, I wasn’t video gaming it up on the Wii (although I did sorta feel like Super Mario Bros); I was running the Ridiculous Obstacle Course Race at Salt River Fields (ROC for short). Yes, I had a blast, but it was more than just a ridiculously good time. Here’s why…
Friends who face-plant together, stay together – Thanks Deb and Krista for the fun-tastic time. We ran, we laughed, we face-planted… heck, we shared a foam bath. If that’s not bonding, I don’t know what is.
Fun photos to share on Facebook – Ridiculous costumes + ridiculous obstacles = ridiculously awesome photos!
Act like a kid again – I’ve been to a load of kid birthday parties lately and here’s how they all go down: the kids play up a storm while the adults act like…. well, adults. Kids definitely have more fun; and the ROC was a big giant playground that brought out the inner kid in all of us.
Gain bragging rights – The most challenging obstacle of them all was the Wrecking Ball. The goal: Make it across a line of floating barrels without getting knocked into the water below by 2 giant flying wrecking balls. I’m proud to say none of us were wrecked by the wrecking balls. Toot toot! (that’s the sound me tooting my own horn).
Cross the “Finish” line with pride – Yes, the race was only 5k, not exactly marathon-length, but there was a real high-five sense of accomplishment. We did it!
