Q. How do you balance school and competitions?

A. I thrive off of having a busy schedule so for me, balancing school and the title of Miss Arizona Teen USA was an exciting challenge.  My parents have instilled within me the belief that school comes first. I’m a broadcast-news major now at Pepperdine University and have been able to pursue my future in media while also representing Arizona for the last few months of my reign.  In preparing for any competition, balance as well as both physical and mental preparation is needed. I feel that focus, ambition, and an encouraging support group can get you almost anywhere.

Q. How do you participate in the community?

A. I am so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had this year. I’ve worked with Best Buddies, Barrow’s Hospital, the Arizona Food Bank, the Hacienda House, and have attended all types of media events.  Working with several local news stations has been one of my favorite ways to get involved within the community. I’ve learned that in desiring to make a difference in another’s life, your life is often changed for the better.

Q. What do you picture yourself doing in 10 years?

A. Let’s see… In 10 years from now I’ll be 29, weird! I’m an individual that loves to love and am a family person so I hope to one day be a parent that is as supportive, caring, and truly incredible as my parents. I can picture myself with a career in the soft news media field because to me, this is fun not work! I’m also very passionate about supporting nonprofits and other empowering organizations that want to make a change. I’m not sure what the future holds…but I do know where I want to go and hopefully I’ll be leaving a positive impact behind.

Q. Describe your perfect Friday night.

A. My perfect night (any day of the week) would be to spend it with those I love the very most.  Loved ones, good friends, and good food!

Q. How did it feel the moment you were crowned Miss Teen Arizona USA?

A. I couldn’t breath! I only remember shaking onstage and covering my mouth.  It was a moment I had worked so hard for, had only dreamed of, and for a split second… I was able to live it. I really don’t remember it well because I was in such shock, but watching the crowing on YouTube allows me to reminisce.

Q. What are your college plans?

A. I’m currently the meteorologist (AKA- weather girl) for NewsWaves, a Pepperdine channel that airs live throughout Malibu.  I also host my own radio show on Thursday nights (101.5 KWVS Malibu) and work with an on-campus morning show called Good Morning Malibu.  I want to continue with my love for media production and hope to soon think about an internship in the LA area. I’m planning to travel to Haiti for a Pepperdine club called SAAJ in Haiti this spring.  Reaching my personal goal of a high GPA is on my agenda too!

Q. In one sentence, describe the past year of your life.

A. I’ve learned more about others AND myself than I knew was possible within this past whirlwind-of-a-year…let go and let God because life is good.

Q. Describe your favorite pageant gown.

A. The gown I wore at nationals, which the fabulous Sherri Hill and Britt Boyse helped me to design.  It can only be described as a princess gown... with unlimited sparkle!

Q. Where do you keep your crown when you aren’t wearing it?

A. It’s hiding in a safe “crown box” on a shelf in my room.

Q. When did you get into modeling and pageants?

A. The year before I won my title! I was interested in the public speaking aspect of the pageant competition and I could have never guessed where that interested would lead me.

Q. How does it feel to be nominated for the Best of our Valley Contest: Most Fashionable Under 30?

A. It’s awesome! I’m honored that people find my expression of style nominee-worthy… Thank you AZ!
