This week, AZFoothills.com pays tribute to the Valley’s top pops.

Father of Andrew, 3 and Logan, 18 months.

Though his duties as athletic trainer for the Phoenix Suns have proven to be a top priority, Aaron Nelson puts his fatherly duties above everything else. Sharing his love of his career with his sons, Nelson takes the boys to every home game, provided that it is not too late past bedtime.

From meeting the family at the mall for his lunch break, to using Skype and iChat while away on business trips, Nelson makes use of every moment he can spend with his children. “I think the biggest thing I enjoy is just being around the boys. I travel a lot so when I’m home it’s great to see the interaction between them,” Nelson says.

On Father’s Day, Nelson says he will be hanging out with the whole family, including his dogs, Keegan and Kanyon. “My biggest thing is just to grill, hang out, and watch them playing in the yard, being able to spend time with them and then swimming. They are little fish, love to swim,” says Nelson about his sons.

Nelson manages to keep his team-- as well as his number one fans-- healthy and happy, and when it comes to balancing a career and fatherhood, Nelson is an MVP.
