Tis the season for holiday photos!  Whether you’re planning to take photos during the upcoming holidays or scheduling into the New Year, we know that planning family photos can become challenging.  Families around the Valley are vying for pics that perfectly represent their entire family, often including young children and family pets. That is one reason why the “winter” season in Phoenix is a popular time to schedule an outdoor photography session.  It’s often easier to manage a full crowd in an outdoor setting – and the Phoenix area is definitely home to some of Mother Nature’s most desirable locations.

When we think of Phoenix photography, we immediately think of Danny Raustadt of Danny Paul's Bigger Picture Images. Danny Paul is an internationally award-winning commercial and lifestyles photographer with decades of experience. He is the go-to photographer in Scottsdale and Phoenix; from celebrity functions to magazine shoots, family photos to headshots, Danny truly captures it all with passion and his noteworthy artistic approach.

My Experience

I had the opportunity to have Danny Paul's Bigger Picture Images come to my home for a holiday shoot. Having worked with him in the past, I was especially excited for his expertise. Not only did Danny choose the perfect backdrop at my home (we had outdoor and indoor options) but he also artfully directed the family photo shoot to ensure its success. Whiney toddler, barking pup – nothing phased Danny as he continued with his precise clicks of the camera.  Danny also maintains his photography passion throughout the entire experience. He genuinely cares about the finished product.  He works diligently to send photos for your initial review and will then work with you to customize any edits needed.  As a leader in the industry, Danny understands a key to photo bliss is his unique ability to edit his photography so everyone involved is thrilled with the shots.  Typical family photo problems such as tears streaming down your child’s cheeks, sweat pouring down your husband’s face and your belly bulge can easily be forgotten. Danny Raustadt of Danny Paul's Bigger Picture Images has the magic touch and can correct many of those hindrances you don’t want captured.

Expert Tips

We also have great professional tips from Danny Paul's Bigger Picture Images for families in Phoenix looking to commemorate their moments.

  1. Kids? When photographing children, be sure they are rested and other family members aren't hurried.
  2. Pets? If you’re incorporating pets, remember that they can be confused about what you're asking them to do. Remain calm and don't excite the pets. If you've hired a photographer, make sure he/she is good around kids and pets.
  3. Attire? Avoid wearing white or anything with very thin stripes. This season, opt for fun holiday colors and / or accessories.
  4. How often? Try to take photos at least once a year. Family portraits document the growth of the children and the family.
  5. DIY? If you’re taking your own photos, the more photos you take, the better your chances of getting some good images. Inexpensive wireless remote control camera triggers are available so you don't have to run back and forth to the camera (which can be frustrating and exhausting). If you get "red-eye" from an on-camera flash, there are inexpensive programs available to get rid of it. Allow enough "room" around your subjects so your image can be cropped to fit greeting cards.
