The last time I wrote for Arizona Foothills Magazine was about four years ago. At the time, I was the morning show traffic anchor for a local Phoenix TV station, waking up at 2:30am for the early broadcast. I was also unmarried, but head-over-heels in love with my then boyfriend, going out every weekend, and living the life of a carefree Scottsdale socialite. My former Arizona Foothills Magazine column was full of everything lifestyle; reviewing lavish hotels, exceptional eateries, and writing about lust, love, fashion, and fun.
Now, four years later, I'm back...but things have changed.
I still get up at 2:30am, but this time around, I'm awoken by a hungry baby. I'm still head-over-heels over that boyfriend I mentioned, but he's now my husband. And admittedly our weekends are everything but carefree, mostly consisting of snuggling, entertaining, and catering to our two sons under two, Nicholas and Zachary.
Yes, things are a little different, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I am proud that my number one priority and most important title is now "mom."
I assume many of you parents can relate: upon being blessed with my first born, I became obsessed with motherhood. Everything turned secondary: my little preemie immediately became the center of my world. I had no idea my heart could love something so much. Therefore, I made the transition from TV news girl to mommy.
I had documented my entire pregnancy with Nicholas, and ended up publishing my real time journal. (Click here for more.) And then I launched All Things Mama, an online show for moms about everything baby, toddler, motherhood, and beyond. And then I was fortunate to talk about my book on multiple television stations nationwide, in addition to be utilized as a "mom" expert (even though that is surely a work in progress). Long story short, I've taken this mom thing pretty serious, and now my All Things Mama brand is geared towards product reviews, parenting tips, and more.
I thought I'd make a return to Arizona Foothills Magazine, the publication that was so good to my mid-20s self four years ago. Now, at 30 years old, I'm using this wonderful publication as a platform to candidly share fun posts about the adventures of motherhood. This is more than a mommy blog (a hated term); this is for us once carefree kid-less women to unite and embrace the beautiful journey of being an all things mama...the greatest gift in the world.
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for bi-weekly articles and videos!
