Next year, the Arizona Organizing Committee will welcome two teams to Glendale for the second College Football Playoff National Championship. Winners from the Orange and Cotton Bowls will face-off for the coveted national title here in the desert on January 11.

The game marks the middle of an exciting three-year run of mega sporting events for the state, contributing to our long-standing championship history. As many sports fans know, college football championships aren’t new to Arizona. In fact, we’ve hosted more than any other state in the last 30 years, generating approximately $646.2 million for Arizona’s economy.

The 2016 national championship will be our eighth, but it will be unlike any of the previous BCS championships you’re used to seeing in the Valley of the Sun. Based on the buzz surrounding the first-ever national championship this year in Dallas – more than 33 million viewers tuned in to watch Ohio State defeat Oregon – this game will be much bigger.

There will be plenty of events to get you into the college football spirit, but perhaps most exciting of all is the action-packed, four-day celebration we’ll host the weekendleading up to the national championship on January 11. From the Playoff Fan Central experience to the Play Playoff Playlist Live! concert series and Taste of the Championship culinary festival, there’s likely to be something for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you’re an avid sports fan or looking for ways to get involved, we’ll provide you with volunteer opportunities and of course recommendations for what to do, where to go and how to get there, with insider tips for making the most of every experience.

To make sure you don’t miss a second of the action, stay tuned in to this blog and follow the Arizona Organizing Committee on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
