Beginning in 1996, Links Fore Leukemia co-founder Bob Barker has continued to champion the cause in hopes of a cure. An estimated 20,900 Arizonans are battling blood cancers and nearly 2,000 are newly diagnosed with lymphoma, myeloma and leukemia each year. With high statistics like this, fundraisers like the Links Fore Leukemia Golf Tournament are just what the doctor ordered. On Monday, May 5, the organization will be having their 10th annual tournament. More than $1 million has been raised since the first competition in 1996. Cancer survivor Barker will be in attendance and is looking forward to the event. “Bob's love for the game of golf and his heart's desire to find a cure has been a driving force behind the tournament,” says longtime friend and founder of the Arizona event, Rich Skelnik. “I am most proud of the partnerships, relationships and the people that keep coming back year after year.” Skelnik has been working tirelessly to secure sponsors for the event and get the word out to the community. Having originated in Texas, the golf tournament has been having huge successes in Arizona and all in the name of funding a great cause.

This tournament includes on-course contests, lunch, gold, prize drawings, and a deluxe tee gift. The 18-hole scramble format will be held at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler. Check in and registration begins at 8 a.m. and the tournament begins at 10:00am followed by the 19th Hole Cocktail Reception at 2:30pm.
