The John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital will soon be undergoing interior construction, thanks to a $4 million donation from the Lincoln family children.

David and Joan Lincoln and Lillian Lincoln Howell are helping to renovate the hospital's dining, lobby, and service areas, as well as building expansions. The renovations will exemplify the awards for excellence achieved by the Lincoln network and better serve their patients and visitors.

The new entrance will allow easier access in and out of the building and will become an "elegant" and "spiritual" place for reflection and comfort. Not only will the entryway be more aesthetically pleasing, it will also be much more convenient and practical. It is said to be larger than the current entrance and link areas for optimal social interaction and ease.

Susan Fuchs, the Media Relations Specialist for John C. Lincoln Planning said that the entryway project is critically important.

"David Lincoln says, 'You never get a chance to make a first impression twice.'  We want people to feel confident, the minute they arrive at North Mountain, that this is a place they are completely welcomed, where they can get the most advanced, highest quality medical procedures and the most compassionate care."

The Lincoln family has been dedicated to community involvement and philanthropy for three decades, and this donation is just one of many throughout the past. The Lincoln family children believe that support is especially important during this poor economic time period.

As of now, the donation has allowed them to begin the process of working with architects and planners for the renovation.

During construction in the future, Fuchs said that it should be minimally invasive and not hugely impact patrons, as they have done many renovations in the past. Their ultimate goal is to make the project as smooth and convenient as possible.

"Great planning goes into this, and I can tell you that over the past 15 years of my service with John C. Lincoln, during which we have had many huge construction projects, we have been successful in this goal," says Fuchs.

"We hope that construction will begin early next year," says Fuchs. It is conceptual at the moment, but if plans and funding go smoothly, the construction should be up and running by first or second quarter of next year.
