For a daredevil like Jeff Hall, the sport of polo is something that came naturally. He was born into a family of polo players; he began to ride horses at age 4 and was in his first tournament by the time he was 7. “Polo is so much more than just a sport because it has a whole lifestyle surrounding it. The lifestyle has been a part of my life since day one.” Jeff Hall in stables - Nick Garcia credit compressed

He knew right from the start that he wanted to be a professional polo player, and with the support of his family, his dream became a reality. Hall’s father, John, is a player who got involved with the sport in Tucson and was always there for encouragement. Because of his father, Hall was lucky enough to be taught by some of the most acclaimed pro polo players at the time. He was even able to go to Argentina when he was 12-years-old to hone his skills and play polo on a farm in Lobos for six months.

Currently, Hall is holding a seven-goal handicap and is considered one of the best polo players in the world. He is one of a small handful of highly rated American players and has achieved numerous victories in some of the most important polo tournaments. Just to name a few, in recent years Hall has won the America’s Cup, the International Polo Cup, the Iglehart Cup, the U.S.P.A. Silver Cup and the Pacific Coast Open. Hall considers the Pacific Coast Open and U. S. Open his most memorable wins. “My father and brother have both won it, so it’s cool to say that all three of us have done so.”

In his miniscule amount of free time (he also breeds polo horses), Hall enjoys spending time with his wife and his 2-year-old son. “If my son ever wants to play polo, he’ll be completely set up to do so. But it’s entirely his choice,” Hall says. He’s also been known to dabble with flight. “I have my pilot’s license, but I don’t fly too much now that I’m a father because it’s dangerous.”
