As we head into the new school year, Tools 4 School is providing backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and more to prepare students for the 2016-2017 school year Sat.urday, July 30, from 7 to 10 a.m. at Travis L. Williams American Legion Post 65 (16 St. & Broadway).

The first 3,000 students, kindergarten through 8th grade, will receive free backpacks filled with notebooks, writing utensils and other necessary school supplies. Students in line will receive a free haircut and hot breakfast on a first come, first serve basis. Tools 4 School also offers additional free activities including meet and greets with McGruff the Crime Dog and Phoenix Sky Harbor’s Amelia the Airplane, bounce houses, Phoenix Fire Department fire trucks, Phoenix Police Department police vehicles and more.

“In keeping with our mission to ensure every child crosses the “finish line”, we're proud of this program that's growing and more significant each year,” says Alan ‘AP’ Powell, Founder of Checkered Flag Run Foundation. “We are also grateful to all our sponsors and partners who see our vision, too."
