The Salvation Army will open a new thrift store on Thursday, June 2, 2016 located at 1849 West Greenway Road in Phoenix, Ariz. The addition of this new store brings the total of The Salvation Army Family Store locations in the Valley to four. In celebration of the grand opening, The Salvation Army will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. and open doors to shoppers shortly after.

The Salvation Army Family Stores are refreshed daily with items that are donated through the organization’s pick up service, drop-off bins, community centers and Family Stores. When Arizona residents donate goods to The Salvation Army, those items are then sold at the Army’s Family Stores. The proceeds are used to fund the organization’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers, where those in the grip of addiction find help, hope, and a second chance at life.

“We are proud to open a fourth thrift store location in the Greater Phoenix area,” said Major John Brackenbury, the Valley of the Sun Program Coordinator. “We welcome commonly donated items such as clothing or furniture and invite the community to browse our store aisles to discover an amazing deal or a rare treasure. Donating to and shopping at The Salvation Army Thrift Stores makes a difference in the lives of many.”

For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army has been providing assistance to people with a variety of physical and social afflictions through its United States based Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs). The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers comprise the largest residential rehabilitation program in the United States. This comprehensive service is free to the public and financed through the well-known Salvation Army Thrift Stores. The proceeds from these sales help more than 216,000 people every year. With the new thrift store, Valley residents have the opportunity to purchase a variety of items and help transform a life.
