Dan Mahoney, Tournament Chairman for the 2016 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by The Ak-Chin Indian Community, announced that The Thunderbirds will be holding a charity auction for a corporate skybox on the famous 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale for the 2016 Waste Management Phoenix Open. All of the proceeds generated from the auction will be donated to charity, with 50 percent going to Boys Hope Girls Hope Arizona and the other 50 percent going to a charity of the winning bidder’s choice.

The auction is for a 16th Hole Skybox good for the four days of tournament competition, Thursday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb. 7.  The 16th Hole Skybox package includes 34 Skybox badges for each day (Thursday through Sunday), 20 General Admission tickets for each day (Thursday through Sunday), four Birds Nest General Admission Tickets for each night (Thursday through Saturday), complimentary breakfast and lunch buffet plus open bar, two valet parking passes (good all week) and 15 reserved parking passes each day (Thursday through Sunday). Additionally, the winning bidder also reserves the right to purchase the same 16th Hole Skybox at regular price for the 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The initial bid will start at $45,000, with bid levels going up in minimum increments of $2,500; and a credit card verification will be required to authenticate and accept bids.  A complete bidding history can be viewed online at www.wmphoenixopen.com/skybox-auction.  While all proceeds will be donated to charity, only amounts over the fair market value of the skybox will be considered a charitable contribution for tax purposes. Bidders should consult with their own tax advisers.

Bids will only be taken over the phone during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) and will be accepted until 5 p.m. MDT on Wednesday, Dec. 23.  The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 28.  To make a bid on the 16th Hole Skybox or for more information contact the Thunderbird office at 602.870.0163.
