The Phoenix is one of only three Valley finalists selected by the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee for "Best STEM School" honors in the 2014 STEM Superhero Awards. These awards highlight excellence and innovation in science, technology, engineering, and math teaching throughout the state.

Phoenix-based mining company Freeport-McMoRan, which invests more than $1.5 million annually in STEM education throughout the Southwest, is sponsoring a Nov. 12 awards ceremony at the Arizona Science Center that will honor the finalists and announce the winners. Prizes will range from Super Bowl memorabilia to monetary donations.
