They’re unpredictable. They’re stubborn. They go fast. And they’re back! Camel and ostrich racing return to Turf Paradise, Saturday March 23rd. It’s a day of fun for the entire family that includes a family fun park and a full card of live horse racing, in addition to the camels and ostriches.
It’s also a great value with grandstand admission at $2 and kids 16 and under getting in for free. Camel racing is not as easy as it looks. Horses are a lot less stubborn. The sport is popular in the Middle East, Australia and Africa. Ostrich racing is popular in Africa and it definitely takes a little work to get these birds to race. (It makes camel racing look easy). The event is sponsored by the Arizona Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association.
In addition to some of the strangest racing to grace our track the day also features: Live music $2 Draft Beer A Family Fun Park with Bounce Inflatables, Pony Rides and Face Painting A full card of traditional racing with horses (by the way you can bet on the horses)
