Description

SCNM DISCOVERY DAY A CHANCE FOR THE COMMUNITY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OPTIMAL HEALTH THROUGH NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE AND POTENTIAL STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT A CAREER PATH

Discovery Day at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 27, is a day for community members to experience and understand the benefits of naturopathic medicine for optimal health and for those who may serve them as physicians to explore a career path.  The full-day event features different programs for each group.  SCNM is located at 2140 E. Broadway Rd. in Tempe.

“Naturopathic doctors look beyond the superficial symptoms to explore how the body can help heal itself naturally,” said SCNM President Dr. Paul Mittman. “We assess potential causes for health issues that may be nutritional, emotional, environmental, hereditary and infectious that may contribute to a patient’s condition. Discovery Day gives the community the chance to ask questions and experience first-hand how naturopathic medicine may contribute to a healthier life.”

There is no charge for Discovery Day. With nearly 40 doctors and more than 200 student clinicians, the SCNM Medical Center is the largest naturopathic medical center in the Southwest. Registration is recommended by April 24 and the first 100 registrants receive a free goody bag. To register, visit www.scnm.edu/discovery.

The schedule for the community includes yoga, breakfast, lunch, massages, physical adjustments and acupuncture as well as a tour of the medical center, information about the benefits of plant-based diets, protein drink tastings, insights into healthy skin, minimizing stress and anxiety, natural pain management and a Q&A with medical center doctors.

For those considering attending the naturopathic medical school, the program includes breakfast, massages, physical adjustments and acupuncture as well as presentations about the SCNM degree program, admissions process, financial aid and career services. Prospective students also can participate in the protein drink tastings and get a tour of the medical center and campus.

Massage, acupuncture and adjustment slots are limited and require sign-up on Discovery Day.
