Paco Peña: Flamenco Vivo
Guitarist Paco Peña embodies both authenticity and innovation in flamenco. Originally from the city of Córdoba, Spain, Peña has transformed perceptions of this classic Spanish art form and captured the imagination of audiences around the world with his electrifying performances. In Flamenco Vivo, Peña and his talented young dancers, singers and musicians bring to life the intoxicating rhythms, colors and sounds of Andalucía as they fill the stage with bursts of glorious improvisation and virtuoso flamenco technique.

John Pizzarelli Quartet

Called “hip with a wink” by Town & Country, celebrated guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli has merged a variety of musical styles into a single, distinctive signature sound that is an entertaining convergence of jazz, swing, American Songbook, pop, bossa nova and more. Pizzarelli has recorded more than 20 albums and performed worldwide. His latest release, Double Exposure, is a collection of tunes by some of the great pop songwriters of his own generation that are framed squarely within traditional jazz arrangements.

Red Baraat

Led by drummer Sunny Jain and known around the globe for its raucous, dance-inducing concerts, the pioneering eight-piece band Red Baraat formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2008. Called “the best party band in years” by NPR, this joyful group melds the infectious North Indian rhythms of Bhangra with a host of diverse musical styles, including jazz, Go-go, brass funk and hip-hop.

Red Baraat’s performance is part of the 2012–13 Discovery Series exploring the arts of India, which is made possible in part by a grant from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust.
